OUR STORY

TWO AMERICA DELICACIES

Something Pleasing To Eat That Is Considered Rare and Luxurious

Many people have asked, “Where did you come up with the idea?” We sell fresh, handpicked, super sweet blueberries and maple syrup at various farmers markets. Normally we sell our truckload of berries out in a few hours but sometimes, if it rains during our peak harvest season, we may bring berries home. That is why I started making blueberry syrup. The trouble was that most blueberry syrups have 1/3 sugar and 1/3 corn syrup. I wanted a syrup that was more healthy and natural. I was reading one of my great Granddads old books written in the 1800’s. The author projected in his book that maple syrup would become the main sweetener for America . He didn’t know that we would import cane sugar so his projection was wrong but it did start me thinking, “what if.”

I began to experiment with blueberries and maple syrup. I found out many little secrets to making Blueberry Maple Syrup. The fresh fruit should be frozen first so that it mixes with the maple syrup better. The maple syrup should be boiling when mixed with the fruit, etc.

We sold our first bottle of Blueberry Maple Syrup with hand made labels at the East Aurora , NY Farmers Market in July 1990. The first market we sold 28 bottles in 3 hours. The next week people who had bought one bottle were back to buy 3 to 12 bottles. By the end of August, we had sold 2,550 bottles. We filed a patent application on as many different combinations of fruit as the patent attorney and I could think of and all percentages of maple syrup. Childs Blueberry Maple Syrup, Childs Red Raspberry Maple Syrup, Childs Strawberry Maple Syrup and Childs Golden Peach Maple Syrup trade name is Everything Nice. Everything Nice is 65% Fruit and 35% Grade “A” Maple Syrup—100% All Natural. It is processed in a hot water bath so there are no preservatives but it does have an excellent shelf life. It has fresh lemon juice in it to bring out the color instead of artificial colors. Since the season ended for us at the farmers market, we ran an ad in the East Aurora Advertiser. We had 425 orders, which we shipped through the mail. What I believe is truly unique about these fruits sweetened with maple syrup is that the flavor of the fruit is not overpowered as with other sweeteners. We thank you for ordering our product and hope you enjoy it and call again.

Childs 100% Everything Nice, Since 1990

Made in the USA

Not Available Anywhere Else in the World (at least, not in 1990)

If you have an idea for Everything Nice™ please write us! The idea for this letter telling the history of our fledgling company was a customer’s idea. The idea to try eBay came from a customer. Other ideas we have received is to put a touch of Blueberry Maple Syrup in tea to create Blueberry Maple Tea. Snapple was not invented yet so this was the first flavored iced tea I had heard of. Another customer loves the Raspberry Maple Syrup on her cereal and buys it by the case. Another customer swears that a couple of drops in a glass of Chablis to make Blueberry Maple Chablis is the “cats meow” Thank you for your order.
